A new itinerary to new places!

Join the expedition team to experience the Great Bear Rainforest with experienced naturalists and undersea experts. You will feel the pristine landscape of the Great Bear Rainforest and walk away with an enhanced understanding of why this is a protected area.

During this expedition you will be hosted onboard a brand new (launched in 2019) custom built ship made for exploring small passages. The ship is designed with lots of glass windows to allow the outside to come inside, outside space for guest viewing is specially designed and advanced environmentally friendly systems to conserve the area you explore. The maximum capacity is 100 guests. With experts onboard, you will be treated to personalised and an informative adventure.

A 7 day exploration of the pristine wilderness of the Great Bear Rainforest and BC Coast is just what you need. Jump onboard a ship designed specifically for exploring small passageways and giving you the best opportunity to view wildlife in their natural surroundings.

Day 1 - September 5, 2022


Depart Ketchikan

Start your day at the Totem Heritage Centre. This centre provides you with an opportunity to view one of largest collections of original, 19th century totem poles. These poles have been carved by the Tlingit, Haida and Tsimshian peoples. You will have the opportunity to understand these artist traditions.

This afternoon you will board the amazing National Geographic Venture. This ship was purpose built in 2019 to explore the Inside Passage. It is built with exploration and comfort in mind. Family groups are catered for on this ship with several connecting family suites and step-out balconies. While onboard you can be sure to avoid the crowds, as this ship has a maximum guest capacity of 100 people.

Day 2 - September 6, 2022


Prince Rupert, BC

You are back into Canada and ready to explore. First we stop in Prince Rupert. This harbourside town is located at the mouth of the Skeena River and is enriched with indigenous culture, as this was the location of food harvesting. Here you can immerse yourself in First Nations history at the Museum of Northern British Columbia. View the impressive collection of ceremonial objects, weavings, carvings and regalia.

Day 3 - September 7, 2022


Explore the Great Bear Rainforest

4 days of exploring the picturesque Great Bear Rainforest. This is a safe and great place to see Grizzly bears in a protected environment. It is also home to many other animals, eagles, whales, sea otters and more. In particular the ship will circumnavigate Gribbell Island. Here you are in search of the White Bear, or Kermode Bear. This particular bear is born with a recessive gene resulting in the white fur colour. There are estimated to be fewer than 400 in existence.

Each day in the Great Bear Rainforest you will have the option for adventures off the ship. This will include guided kayaking trips, guided hikes on land, adventures in the zodiacs, go paddleboarding and more. Here you can immerse yourself and appreciate the pristine scenery surrounding you.

Union Passage Provincial Marine Park

Today you have the opportunity to experience the marine life. As we sail along you may have the opportunity to see pods of Orca whales, brown bears on the shore and other wildlife in their natural surroundings. It isn't all sailing. We will drop anchor after passing the Grenville Channel and take the zodiacs and kayaks exploring. Here we have the opportunity to watch the salmon run.

Day 8 - September 12, 2022


Arrive into Port Rupert

Having travelled south to the Great Bear Rainforest and seen the amazing wildlife that BC has to offer, we return back to Port Rupert. From the ship we will transfer to the airport for a charter flight to Seattle.
